While on holiday in South Africa this April, we got the chance to attend the Splashy Fen Music Festival for the first time.
As one of South Africa’s longest-running music festivals, Splashy draws thousands of music lovers each Easter to a small farm in Underberg, a town nestled at the foot of the Southern Drakensburg Mountains.
For the last 20 years, Splashy has seen many of the great South African bands perform and this year, we were lucky enough to watch John Ellis showcase songs from his new solo album: Come Out Fighting. Being friends with his wife meant we could hitch our wagon to his star, and join him for the weekend.
Sleeping in tents, braving the porta-loos, freezing nights, whopping great jugs of alcohol and muddy puddles; the days are chilled, the company friendly, the music brilliant….after dark, things can get interesting! As the saying goes…what happens in Splashy, stays at Splashy Laura Stone
